Hi Sarah, this rooting tutorial is for Note Because you have ICS firmware on your device, you are facing the problems. I would recommend you to update the dvice to JB first and then try it.

The method to enter recovery has been given above in the guide. I cannot get it to boot into Recovery Mode. That could be a better solution! Once you are able to flash a normal firmware to the device, rooting and installing firmware can become easier too.
